My Hawaii Vacation Poop Report: Why I Switch to Natto Powder Capsules When I Travel

My Hawaii Vacation Poop Report: Why I Switch to Natto Powder Capsules When I Travel

I went to Hawaii with a baby, a toddler, approximately 47 snacks, and one very important travel essential: Natto Powder Capsules.

At home, I usually take my regular Natto Powder. I love the powder and it’s an easy part of my everyday routine.

But when I travel, I always switch to the capsules.

Why? Because convenience.

When I'm traveling, my routine is already completely different. We're eating at restaurants, spending the day at the beach, driving around, chasing a toddler, holding a baby… basically doing anything except following my normal at-home routine.

So instead of trying to figure out where to mix my Natto Powder, I simply take the capsules first thing in the morning with my other supplements.

No measuring.
No mixing.
No mess.

Just take them and go.

So when we headed to Hawaii for a week, my regular Natto Powder stayed home and the capsules came with me.

And because I know what everyone actually wants to know…

The Oʻahu Poop Report

Yes, I kept track.

Because what better way to document a vacation than by reporting on my digestive system?

Day 1: Travel Day

Took my capsules first thing in the morning with my other supplements.

Before I even got on the plane, I had already gone to the bathroom.

Strong start.

Day 2: I Forgot

In the excitement of getting settled into Oʻahu, I completely forgot my capsules.

But everything was still normal, so no complaints.

Day 3: Uh Oh.

Nothing.

Nada.

At this point, I started thinking, Okay… Hawaii vacation mode has officially entered the chat.

Day 4: We're Back

And we're back in business.

Day 5: Another One

Everything was moving along normally again.

Day 6: Still Going

No complaints here.

Especially considering what I had been eating all week.

Day 7: Travel Day

And perhaps my favorite part of the entire report:

I went before we even left for the airport.

Nothing says "ready for a travel day" quite like taking care of business before boarding your flight.

Seven days. Six successful bathroom days. One missed day of capsules.

Not exactly a scientific study, but definitely a very real-life vacation report.

But Let's Talk About What I Actually Ate…

Because here's the funny part.

I did NOT eat healthy on this trip.

Like… at all.

We're talking minimal vegetables — if any — every single day.

Instead, my Hawaii diet consisted of:

  • Lots of poke

  • Lots of rice

  • Ramen

  • Pancakes

  • Ice cream

  • And basically whatever delicious food I could get my hands on

It was vacation. I wasn't counting vegetables. I wasn't tracking macros. I wasn't trying to make my meals "balanced."

I was eating Hawaii food.

And enjoying every second of it.

Honestly, I was convinced I had probably gained at least 5 pounds by the end of the trip.

So when I got home and stepped on the scale…

+1 pound.

LOL.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Now, obviously, one vacation and one weigh-in doesn't tell me anything about what caused that one-pound change. Weight can fluctuate for all sorts of reasons, especially when you're traveling.

But it did make me appreciate how nice it was to keep at least one part of my routine consistent while everything else was completely different.

Why Capsules Are My Travel Essential

This trip was another reminder of why I always switch from the powder to capsules when I travel.

At home, I have my kitchen, my usual meals, and my normal routine with Natto Powder.

On vacation?

I'm eating at restaurants. We're at the beach. We're in the car. I'm chasing a toddler. I'm holding a baby.

The capsules are just easy.

I keep them with my other supplements and take them first thing in the morning. No matter where we are or what we're doing that day, I don't have to think about how I'm going to mix my Natto Powder.

And for me, that's exactly what makes a good travel product: something that doesn't add another thing to my already chaotic vacation routine.

A Quick Health Note

Natto and nattokinase products aren't right for everyone. If you're taking blood-thinning or anticoagulant medications, including medications such as warfarin, or you're taking daily aspirin or other medications that affect blood clotting, please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding a natto or nattokinase supplement to your routine. Nattokinase may increase bleeding risk and nattō is naturally high in vitamin K, which can affect warfarin therapy.

This post is based on my personal experience and is not intended to provide medical advice or treat, diagnose, or prevent any health condition.

The Final Hawaii Poop Report

Seven days in Hawaii.

Lots of poke, rice, ramen, pancakes and ice cream.

Very few vegetables.

One forgotten day of capsules.

One day where things came to a complete standstill.

And thankfully, a successful pre-airport bathroom trip on the way home.

Would I call this a scientific study?

Absolutely not.

Would I call it a very real-life vacation experiment?

100%.

And next time I travel, I'm definitely bringing the capsules again.

Because swimsuits, sunscreen, baby supplies, toddler snacks and Natto Powder Capsules are apparently my new vacation essentials.
